Hello
Well, it tells me to blog here on my new website. To be honest, I’m not really the sort of person who likes to talk about lots of stuff, I don’t really have the time to comment on the meanderings of life much, preferring to spend any spare minutes doing stuff rather than being glued to a screen (unless that involves watching a good film!). I do suspect though that I might put the odd thing up here, so watch this space if you like.
Well, here’s the beginning of a new quilt…
Ever since seeing Mrs Billings Coverlet at the quilt museum in York (alas now closed), I have admired it and wanted to make my own interpretation. However, whilst I enjoy looking at and appreciate the handiwork of all those small pieces sewn together, I know I’d find it too fiddly myself and I’d be so impatient with the slow progress, so I’ve started to draft my own, slightly enlarged version, with pieces which are more my sort of size.
I started this whilst on holiday, intending to use just a couple of layer cakes I’d thrown in a box to take with me, however, some other fabric (some scraps of which happened to catch my eye whilst packing) has already found its way in there, a red/calico check which rather reminds me of a dress my mum made me out of old fashioned German bedding of my gran’s. Never having been one for making everything matchy-matchy, it’s quite exciting to see where this will take me.
Well, for somebody who claims to dislike talking about a lot of stuff this seems rather a long post…
